Περί βίας | Του Κωνσταντίνου Πουλή

«Εφόσον ο τελικός σκοπός της ανθρώπινης πράξης ποτέ δεν μπορεί να προβλεφθεί με βεβαιότητα, τα μέσα που χρησιμοποιούνται προς επίτευξη πολιτικών στόχων τις περισσότερες φορές έχουν μεγαλύτερη σημασία για τον μελλοντικό κόσμο απ’ ό,τι οι επιδιωκόμενοι στόχοι».

Δεν επιθυμώ καθόλου να ενώσω τη φωνή μου με όσους θρήνησαν για τα ιστορικά κτίρια της Αθήνας, και τα καμένα σινεμά που δεν κάηκαν. Αντιθέτως, στις περισσότερες περιπτώσεις με εξοργίζει η υποκρισία τους.

Αλλά:

Ομολογώ ότι αδυνατώ να συλλάβω τι μπορεί να έχει μέσα στο κεφάλι του ο άνθρωπος που εμποδίζει ένα πυροσβεστικό όχημα να φτάσει στη φωτιά. Δεν μπορώ να το χωνέψω. Αν η στοχευμένη τρομοκρατία είναι ήδη ηθικά και πολιτικά προβληματική, τι να πει κανείς για όσους φλερτάρουν με τον φόνο τυχαίων αγνώστων; Η Μαρφίν μάς άφησε τρεις νεκρούς και έστρεψε το σύνθημα «εσείς μιλάτε για κέρδη και ζημιές, εμείς μιλάμε γι’ ανθρώπινες ζωές» εναντίον μας. Ο μόνος που έχει συμφέρον από αυτή τη στροφή είναι βεβαίως το κράτος και η καταστολή. Γι’ αυτό και με το ένα χέρι η αστυνομία επιτίθεται απρόκλητα σε διαδηλωτές και με το άλλο σιγοντάρει τις καταστροφές. Αντί όμως να αναμασούμε τη διαπίστωση ότι ανάμεσα σε όσους καίνε και καταστρέφουν βρίσκονται και ασφαλίτες, το πιο λογικό που θα έπρεπε να κάνουμε είναι να αναρωτηθούμε γιατί το κάνουν και να προχωρήσουμε ένα βήμα παραπέρα: αν τους συμφέρει, δεν μπορεί παρά να κάνει κακό σε μας. Και αν μας κάνει κακό, δεν μπορεί μονίμως να διστάζουμε να μιλήσουμε, μην τυχόν και παρασυρθούμε κι εμείς από την προπαγάνδα που θέλει να μιλά για επεισόδια, αντί για ογκώδεις κινητοποιήσεις. Αυτή η προπαγάνδα ξεκινά από τις ίδιες τις φωτιές, δεν αρκούν τα κανάλια. Αν ο Ζίζεκ θεωρεί ότι οι εξεγερμένοι καθίστανται δια της βίας ορατοί, μπορούμε να πούμε ότι όταν το κόστος για να γίνεται κανείς τηλεοπτικά ορατός είναι να τον ερμηνεύουν ως μανιακό, δεν αξίζει τον κόπο. Καλύτερα να ποντάρουμε στη βαθιά εμπειρία ενός ανθρώπου που περπατάει μέσα στο πλήθος των διαδηλωτών, ενώνει τη φωνή του μαζί τους και ζει με το κορμί του ότι δεν φάγαμε το παραμύθι πως με τη λιτότητα και τα δάνεια μάς σώζουν. Τα επεισόδια εξάλλου καταστέλλονται ευκολότερα από τα πλήθη.

Η λατρεία της βίας επικαλείται το επιχείρημα ότι δεν υπάρχουν ποτέ ανατροπές χωρίς βία. Όμως, χώρια που ανατροπές δεν συμβαίνουν κάθε βδομάδα, η Άρεντ στο εξαιρετικό «Περί βίας» (εκδ. Αλεξάνδρεια) σχολιάζει την περίφημη φράση του Μαρξ για τη βία ως μαμή της ιστορίας λέγοντας ότι η βία βρίσκεται παρούσα στις αλλαγές, όπως οι ωδίνες που προηγούνται του τοκετού, αλλά δεν εξηγούν τον τοκετό. Ο κόσμος δεν αλλάζει χάρη στη βία: «τα πάντα εξαρτώνται από τη δύναμη που βρίσκεται πίσω από τη βία. Η αιφνίδια κατάρρευση της δύναμης, που είναι ο προάγγελος των επαναστάσεων, αποκαλύπτει αστραπιαία πόσο η υπακοή των πολιτών –σε νόμους, σε κυβερνήτες, σε θεσμούς- δεν είναι παρά η εξωτερική εκδήλωση της υποστήριξης και της συναίνεσης». «Σε έναν αγώνα βίας ενάντια στη βία, η υπεροχή της κυβέρνησης υπήρξε πάντοτε απόλυτη», προσθέτει. H Άρεντ επιμένει ότι η εξύμνηση της πολιτικής βίας συνδέεται κατά μέγα μέρος με τη ματαίωση της ικανότητας του πράττειν στον σύγχρονο κόσμο. Τα ακραία φαινόμενα θα αυξάνονται όσο απουσιάζει η ουσιαστική πολιτική διέξοδος στις εντάσεις. Ανήλικοι επαναστάτες γράφουν προκηρύξεις λέγοντας ότι την ώρα της δράσης βεβαιώνεται η στιγμιαία ελευθερία τους, χωρίς να αντιλαμβάνονται, κατά τη συγγραφέα, ότι η κοινωνία στην οποία ζουν τους αφήνει να φαντασιώνονται το αδύνατο, υπό τον όρο ότι θα τους έχει στερήσει τη δυνατότητα να κάνουν το δυνατό, να αλλάξουν δηλαδή τους όρους της ζωής τους. Νομίζω ότι δεν χρειάζεται σχολιασμός για να κατανοήσουμε πόσο επίκαιρος είναι ο στοχασμός της Άρεντ.

Το θέμα είναι πολύπτυχο και πολύπλοκο, δεν μπορούν καν να αναφερθούν όλες οι πτυχές του εδώ. Δεν πιστεύω ότι η κριτική στη βία σημαίνει αυτομάτως οριστική προσχώρηση στον πασιφισμό του άλλου μάγουλου και αναγνωρίζω τη σημασία της συστημικής βίας. Μένω όμως σε μία περιορισμένη πτυχή, όπως τη ζω στις πορείες της περιόδου που διανύουμε: δράσεις που διώχνουν τον κόσμο από τους δρόμους είναι επικίνδυνες και επιζήμιες. Πρόκειται για ναρκισσισμό των πιτσιρικάδων, όταν νομίζουν ότι μόνο αυτοί εκπροσωπούν προνομιακά τους αγώνες, και οι υπόλοιποι είναι καταγέλαστοι ανανήψαντες του καναπέ. Ο κόσμος αλλάζει όταν βγαίνουν στον δρόμο οι μέχρι πρότινος βολεμένοι.

Αντιλαμβάνομαι ότι υπάρχει μια ηδονή στην πυρκαγιά, ηδονή που εξέφραζε ο Νέρων όταν άκουσε από κάποιον τη φράση: «εμού θανόντος, γαία μειχθήτω πυρί» και απάντησε: «αντιθέτως, εμού ζώντος». Στη συνέχεια απολάμβανε το «κάλλος των φλογών», όπως έλεγε, τραγουδώντας. Αυτή η ικανοποίηση που νιώθει κανείς μπροστά στο θέαμα της καταστροφής είναι πολύ κακός σύμβουλος για το τι πρέπει να πράξουμε πολιτικά. Όσοι έμαθαν να μιλούν με περιφρόνηση για τον βολεμένο μικροαστό που μέχρι χθες ψήφιζε ΠΑΣΟΚ και τον λοιδορούν που αποφάσισε να κατέβει σε πορείες τώρα που έχασε τα προνόμιά του, θα πρέπει να σεβαστούν ότι πραγματική κοινωνική αλλαγή μπορεί να συμβεί ακριβώς όταν εξεγείρονται οι μέχρι χθες ανυποψίαστοι. Αυτή τη στιγμή, το συνήθειο της βίας εμποδίζει. Εμποδίζει περισσότερους ανθρώπους να κατέβουν στον δρόμο και να διαδηλώσουν. Η αστυνομία θέλει πάντα να προκαλεί ένταση. Έχει συμφέρον. Εμείς τι συμφέρον έχουμε; Οι πυρκαγιές συνιστούν μαζί δυνάμει φόνο και πολιτικό σφάλμα. Έχουν και τα δύο σημασία, καθώς την πολιτική έκβαση της σημερινής κατάστασης δεν την ξέρω ούτε εγώ ούτε κανένας. Ξέρω όμως ότι έχει σημασία τι είδους άνθρωποι θα βγούμε από αυτή τη διαδικασία, και δεν με ικανοποιεί αυτό που βλέπω. Τελειώνω με μία ακόμα σκέψη από το ίδιο βιβλίο της Άρεντ: η βία όντως αλλάζει τον κόσμο. Τον κάνει πιο βίαιο.

New - FAKE - Anonymous message for greece

What is fake? This is a supposed Anonymous message for Greeks. I you listen to it you'd probably agree in what it has to say, and feel proud that Anonymous knows so much about the Greek Situation. And although most of the things this video mentions stand correct, towards the end it becomes a plea to get rid of illegal immigrants. This is something that Anonymous would not proclaim as priority or rather an issue on hand at this moment. This clearly makes it a fake anonymous video, we only post it for people to understand the very fine line between information and propaganda, and the fact that these comes from both sides of every war. It's pretty easy to replicate this video...just watch it closely, I can make a video saying anything the fuck I want...but if I put a lot of common isuues with the Anonymous...maybe I can squeeze in a few of my own propaganda...(that's our opinion anyway...)

The units forming a whole create, by the use of symbols, codes and languages, in order to perceive, understand, and communicate with each other. A whole, a code, a language or communication in general must begin with the formation of a sequence of cohesive meaning. The innate need of human beings, as units forming a whole, to express themselves leads them to discover a code, whose starting point is their perceptive ability. Every code as an active structure, a communication system, influences the social structure, while the transient nature of society causes the continuous development of new codes and the redefinition of existing ones. The artistic medium is condusive to the development of the code: through creative dialogue it enriches the sensory experience of the viewer. The recorded material resulting from the artistic activation of space and/or appropriation of the body is filtered and forms a new language, new communication potential. The exploration of the new communication code then brings together, in an original way, artist and viewer, and forges a two-way relation between them, as demanded by the times. Athens Video Art Festival is a living organism created and developed within the contemporary art and society environment to address a wide range of artistic and social issues. It aims at contributing to the strengthening of the ties between audience and artists, on the foundation of a multipurpose program seeking to enhance artistic and social awareness and understanding. The New Code establishes an alternative view of digital arts history and of their relation to an ever changing everyday life, thus reintroducing AVAF.

Klein Mein has started pre-production on the feature film to be directed by Kyros Papavasileiou.

Our production team with close collaboration with the film director and Stelana Kliris who joins the team to coordinate the production, is currently going over the script, finalizing the crew members and scheduling. Filming will commence in February 2012, in Lefkosia, Cyprus.

Today in Greece we have the biggest strike in the last 35 years. Let's see : All public services CLOSED, hospitals ON STRIKE, public transport STRIKE (only open for a few hours to transport demostrators), customs STRIKE, air traffic controllers STRIKE, banks CLOSED, private sector shops and ventors CLOSED ON STRIKE, cafeterias-restaurants CLOSED, schools-univerisites-colleges CLOSED, sanitary departments STRIKE (they are not picking garbage for the last 14 days...imagine how the streets look, tones of garbages every 30 metres in every street).

People will rally towards the Greek Parliament in Syntagma square where thousands of police officers await them for clashes.

I'm not expecting anything dramatic to happen as the recent brutality of police and the ease in which they use tear gas lately has discouraged ordinary people from their right to demonstrate. All the troubles are "fixed" by the police to present the masses as uncontrollable mobs. I really hope people will prove me wrong. I'm hoping for a massive peaceful demonstration in Syntagma, but it's almost certain that the "usual suspects" will throw ONE Molotov cocktail bottle and all hell will brake loose.

Of we go then....enjoy the demonstration (I've got my mask, hope you have yours)

The original version of this film runs 9 hours, but there's a 150 mins version. In the end two rivals end up in the valley of death fighting over a sack full of gold. One of cinema's best endings ever... and at the same time so contemporary.

The movie was filmed in 1924.

John McTeague (Gibson Gowland), a San Francisco dentist, marries Trina (ZaSu Pitts), a thrifty woman who has won $5,000 in a lottery. She banks this money and, by scrimping and saving, hoards most of the money her husband makes. Marcus Schouler (Jean Hersholt), Trina's frustrated former suitor, discovers that McTeague does not have a license to practice dentistry and causes him to lose his business. McTeague can make only a poor living as a laborer, and he and Trina eventually drift to squalid quarters. Trina hoards money compulsively, and McTeague, crazed with the knowledge of the money, kills her and escapes with the gold, fleeing into Death Valley. Marcus goes after him, and the men fight.

The story of the making of the movie has become a Hollywood legend. The story had been filmed once before by an American film studio, William A. Brady's World Pictures, in 1916 under the title McTeague starring Broadway star Holbrook Blinn. Under the aegis of the Goldwyn studio, von Stroheim attempted to film a version of the book complete in every detail. To capture the authentic spirit of the story, he insisted on filming on location in San Francisco, the Sierra Nevada mountains, and Death Valley, despite harsh conditions.

The show approaches each city through its culture, contemporary art, and music, at the same time observing and pointing out certain clichés that either exist or are rumored concerning the city we are visiting. Each episode includes a live unannounced performance by a local musical group or artist inside the urban environment and an interview with a well known artist that lives and works in the city.

Ioakim Mylonas / Producer, Film Director, Production design

Ioakim Mylonas was born in 1977. He studied BA(Hons) Communication with Film at Anglia Polytechnic University of Cambridge. He went on to do his MA in Film Directing at Northern Film School in Leeds where he graduated with distinction. His short films ‘Chronos’, ‘pharmakon’ and ‘Oedipus’ have participated in many film festivals around the world winning awards, with ‘pharmakon’ being the first Cypriot official participation in competition at Venice Film Festival. He has directed and produced several Documentaries, Commercials, Corporate Adverts and Video Art projects. Founding member of ‘Klein Mein Audiovisual Productions and Advertising’ and also the Festival Director of ‘International Short Film Festival of Cyprus’.

Klein Mein are best know for their creative passion about film making. Klein Mein Film Team was created in 2002 by a bunch of young film makers in Athens. They joined forces to make short films and they managed 25 short films that won numerous awards and participated in prestigious festivals.

A cultural visit and a visual exploration of Human behavior in Large European Cities. The show approaches each city through its culture, contemporary art, and music, at the same time observing and pointing out certain clichés that either exist or are rumored concerning the city we are visiting. Each episode includes a live unannounced performance by a local musical group or artist inside the urban environment and an interview with a well known artist that lives and works in the city.
This is an extract from the first pilot episode thats set in Athens. The artist that we interviewed in Athens is film director Giannis Economedes ("Kniffer", "Soul kicking", "Matchbox")
